3D rendering is the process of turning a three-dimensional scene into a two-dimensional, photorealistic image through light, material and camera calculations. In short: the model’s “taken photograph” is produced by rendering.

How does rendering work?

A render engine calculates, with the laws of physics, how light in a scene hits surfaces, reflects and reaches our eye. This physically based (PBR) approach makes the result indistinguishable from a real photo.

The three factors that define a render

Light

Correct light convinces a scene. Sun, sky and artificial light are built with real physics.

Material

Metal, glass, wood and leather become realistic with reflection and roughness values.

Optimization

Balancing quality and time is an art — we cover it in render light & material optimization.
